Trauma Research Library

The library, located within the NTRI, has a number of new books, journals and reports available for loan. We are pleased to announce the purchase of a recently published (2005), well illustrated and comprehensive summary of head injury "Head Injury – Pathophysiology and Management 2nd Edn. P L Reilly and R Bullock (editors). The book is "must read" for anyone working with head injured patients. It is divided into three sections: section 1 deals with the injury including the pathophysiology of head injury; section 2 describes measuring and monitoring the injury; section 3 covers treatment of the injury. Reviewed recently in the British Journal of Anaesthesia:

"Overall this is an excellent and comprehensive book that I thoroughly enjoyed reading. It provided me with excellent continuing medical education and many of the individual chapters would be of great practical value to anaesthetists and intensivists who are regularly involved in the management of patients with head injury. It warrants a place on the shelves of medical libraries in hospitals with trauma centres and neurosurgical units. All intensive care units involved in the management of head injuries should have a copy."
