Tattersall's Foundation Trauma Research Fellowship Call for ApplicationsFounded in July 2004, the National Trauma Research Institute is located within the Alfred Medical Research and Education Precinct as part of The Alfred hospital. The Institute's primary goal is to support and develop research programs that improve survival and quality of life for people who have suffered trauma injuries. Our research program is a multidisciplinary integrated model that allows for trauma research to be conducted across a continuum of laboratory, clinical, rehabilitation and data/trend monitoring.We recognise that care and management of the trauma patient can be demanding and complex, requiring an integrated team approach to produce optimal outcomes. With generous support from the Tattersall's Foundation, we are able to offer this Trauma Research Fellowship available to medical, nursing, allied health and paramedical health professionals.The Fellowship will be funded for a period of twelve (12) months with a research focus of traumatic brain injury or spinal cord injury in the acute clinical setting. The research question should address the reduction of disability and/or increasing functionality of the patient with a traumatic brain injury. For the purposes of the conditions of the Fellowship funding, applications can only be accepted from Bayside Health staff, or be conducted under the auspices of Bayside Health and the National Trauma Research Institute. APPLICATION LODGEMENTAll proposals must be lodged in the required format below. An original plus 1 hard copy must be lodged, and an electronic copy provided via email or on disk. SUCCESSFUL APPLICANTThe successful applicant will be notified once the Evaluation Committee has endorsed support for the project proposal. The NTRI Executive will then negotiate with the applicant to develop a full project plan. Negotiations must be completed prior to execution of a funding agreement and the provision of funds. The successful applicant may be required to engage as a party to a Project Agreement with the NTRI through Bayside Health. The Executive Committee may allocate a Research Mentor to the successful applicants, in which case regular meetings must be undertaken (negotiated by both parties) throughout the twelve (12) month research period. CALL FOR APPLICATION GUIDELINESApplications should relate to traumatic brain injury or spinal cord injury. All Applications should be typewritten with a minimum font size of 11 point and Part B of the application be a maximum of 4 single sided A4 pages. Applications that do not follow this format, or exceed page limits, will not be considered. An original Application plus one hard copy and an electronic copy via email or on disk must be lodged.
